Originally introduced to the regular production catalog in 2008 following a highly successful limited-edition run, the Epicure Especial is designed as the extra-length flagship of the legendary Epicure line—delivering the classic, creamy elegance of the Epicure No. 2 with an additional five-eighths of an inch to savor.

First Third: The vintage smoke opens with an exceptionally silk-like, delicate delivery, carrying zero youthful harshness. A velvety wave of sweet cedar timber, freshly harvested field straw, and an elegant floral background instantly coats the tongue. The early retrohale is completely rounded, offering a faint trace of vanilla bean rather than any peppery sting.

Second Third: Moving into the main section of the Gordito barrel, the profile turns noticeably creamier and deeper. The signature "Hoyo" sweetness sharpens into characteristics of roasted almonds, buttered shortbread pastry, and light café au lait, presenting a pristine and clean mouthfeel.

Final Third: The conclusion scales up gently, easing into a highly fragrant, balanced medium presence. Sublime layers of dry oak wood, a hint of white chocolate dust, and a soft wave of warming nutmeg spice finish long and exceptionally clean, leaving a highly refined aroma in the room.
